RTSP-over-HTTP - this has the advantages of both above formats, in that it is designed for video streaming, supports both video and audio, and is easily transmitted across the internet along with standard web traffic. Private Port Using RemoteSight as an input to SecuritySpy, which is then recoding the video, accounts for one camera input of your SecuritySpy license. So for example if you have four iMac computers running RemoteSight, all sending video to another computer running SecuritySpy to record, then you will need four licenses of RemoteSight and one 4-camera license of SecuritySpy. If however you are just using SecuritySpy to view the video but not to record it, then SecuritySpy can be used free for this purpose (but you will still need the four RemoteSight licenses). SecuritySpy is ideal for networks of Macs too because you can use more than one webcam to monitor your home. Footage can be delivered via the internet to any location and can even allow you to remote tilt and angle cameras. However, this obviously means purchasing a webcam other than a built in iSight camera if you need this latter function. This is the port (or range of ports) that will be accessible from the Internet. If you are setting up remote access to SecuritySpy, this should be the same as the private port (8000 or 8001), unless you are confident about using a different setting.
The preferences are available from the Settings menu. The Preferences window looks like this:
Click this button to choose a custom destination for captured footage (video and still image files).
Image Settings - settings such as brightness/contrast, and any custom settings for your local video input devices
The "trigger time" setting specifies the minimum duration of continuous motion that will result in a trigger. The most sensitive setting is "1 frame", which will trigger if there is motion detected in a single video frame. However, this is likely to produce many false-positive triggers due to rain, lighting changes, insects and other transient motion. A trigger time of between 1 and 2 seconds is normally ideal: this provides a low rate of false-positive triggers while still being highly sensitive to real motion. Note that this feature works best when the frame rate of the incoming video is at least 5fps.
Enable this option to capture a movie in response to a motion trigger. Motion triggers include video motion detection, audio detection and camera input ports, which can be enabled via the Setup tab.
